Job Opening: Production/ Facilities Manager
Perishable Theatre, a 25 year old experimental theatre company in Providence RI is seeking a reliable, flexible and well-organized individual to oversee operations of its highly active 65 seat black box theatre, classroom and dance studio. In addition to its own productions, Perishable Theatre rents to several other groups, companies and individuals throughout the year. Perishable Theatre is open to the public 4-6 nights per week with a variety of programming.
Perishable’s mission is to connect RI audiences with groundbreaking works for the stage that are innovative in both form and content. We do this by acting as a research & development theatre, incubating performance in many forms; through our RAPT (Resident Artist at Perishable Theatre) program, our stage productions/presentations and our Theatre Arts School.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Comfort working both independently on projects and processes as well as cooperatively with other staff and visiting artists.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google calendar
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Flexibility regarding hours during the week and between weeks as needed
- BA in technical theater or commensurate experience
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Transportation to and from theater on weekends and/or late-night
Particular duties of this position may include:
- Acting as liaison between Perishable Theatre and in house artists as well as those artists or companies who are renting, including contracting and scheduling those artists.
- Maintenance of theater space and equipment and overseeing maintenance of Dance Studio, Classroom, and office
- Managing the rental of space (Theater, Dance Studio, Classroom) by answering inquiries regarding rentals, as well as drafting and managing rental contracts.
- Assisting Artistic Director in development of Production Budget
- Monitoring of the Production budget
- Maintenance of the calendar for Theater, Classroom, and Dance Studio
- Working with other staff for special events
- Production/Stage Management for in-house events
- Maintenance of office supplies and the budget for those supplies
Hours per week: 30-40 hours/week
Compensation: up to $21k annually and health benefits
